The study of the function of the living organism and its parts, as well as the chemical processes involved
Physiology -
The body is erect and the palms, arms and hands face forward. Important in determining where a section came from and its relation to others around it.
Anatomical Position -
An anatomical section that divides the body into left and right halves in the median plane
midsagittal section -
Any cut that is parallel to the median plane and divides the body into left and right portions
Sagittal section -
Results in front and back portions of a body and is so called because the plane is parallel to the coronal suture of the skull, which roughly divides the body in half along that axis
Frontal or coronal section -
pertaining to the belly or anterior surface
ventral -
pertaining to the back of the body or distal
dorsal -
toward body or root of free extremity
