Where are these type of cortexes located?
1. Primary Visual Cortex: posterior regions of the occipital lobes.
2. Secondary Visual Cortex: Prestriate Cortex and (before Primary Visual Cortex) and in the inferotemporal lobe (ventral).
3. Association Cortex: Posterior parietal cortex.
How does information flow between the three different type of cortex occur?
The primary visual cortex receives most of the input from the LGN and stuff. Areas of the secondary visual cortex receive most information from the primary visual cortex, and the visual association cortex receives input from areas of secondary visual cortex as well as other secondary areas of sensory systems.
The PVC is the less complex and the AVC is the most complex of these areas; the neurons have larger receptive fields and the stimuli to which the neurons respond are more specific and complex.
What is a scotoma and how does it come into existence?
A scotoma is an area of blindness, which occurs if damage to an area of the primary visual cortex happens in the corresponding area of the contralateral visual field of both eyes.

By a perimetry test; fixating one eye and flashin a red dot in the visual field. This way it can be established where the area of blindness is.

1. The striate cortex is not completely destroyed; the remaining cells are capable of mediating some visual abilities in the absence of conscious awareness.
