  • Messages have primary or secondary either or both

    Primary Audience- The people to whom your message is addressed. Secondary Audience- People other than the primary audience who may read or hear your message, most messages will have both but some will only have one or the other
  • More efficient to write one well written draft than many

    Drafting is a creative process. Using your outline as a guide, you can begin to draft freely knowing that your first draft will not be your final product
  • Slang- Specific to cultures and languages

    DEF- nonstandard, informal language that may communicate well within a certain group but often excludes people from different countries, cultures, and social groups

  • Goodwill messages- Positive Relationships

    DEF- Any message that gives you the opportunity to establish and sustain a positive relationship with your audience
  • Analyzing stage of ACE- importance in persuasive situation: 

    Help increase your chances of getting a positive response by spending extra time in the analyzing phase (think about the purpose, outcome, business results, audience and stakeholder needs, content needs, and medium choices
  • Mentioning your education, experiences, and expertise when introducing yourself- boastful and diminish your credibility

    Do not include ALL parts of this when introducing yourself. Include the highlights and most important information, the employer can read your resume if they want to know the details or can ask you questions. THEREFORE, yes I would find it boastful and diminishing to your credibility
  • Facebook- selective feed of content- users

    Most fans read posts that appear in their own newsfeeds. If posts do not appear at the top of newsfeeds, than fans may never see them. Facebook uses a complex algorithm to determine where posts are located on their newsfeeds. The more a user interacts with your facebook page, the more noticable your posted material will become
  • Preliminary interviews- learn about employer- capture recruiters interest

    An initial meeting to gather basic information about an applicant's goals, skills and qualifications that can benefit a company's needs. You should do all of your research ahead of time but you can ask questions regarding specific questions you may have
