During inspiration, the intrapulmonary pressure decreases. It therefore takes a longer period of time for the pulmonary pressure to exceed the pressure in the right ventricle i.e. it takes longer for the pressure difference between the pulmonary artery and the right ventricle to cause the closing of the respective semilunar valve- gap between the closing of the two valves.
