what can you say about Sherif's (1936) autokinetic effect studies

participants of the study entered a dark room, in which a dot of light would be projected on the wall. participants look at a dot on the wall and answer the question: how much does the dot move? (in reality the dot did not move at all). As an individual they say for example 1 inch or 2 or 7,5 inches. in the following group sessions the develop a norm. when people had been in the dark room in group sessions for three times they all converged and came to the same conclusion.
