B2 Cohesion and coherence

4 important questions on B2 Cohesion and coherence

Why do you need mental power to see cohesion

Cohesion has to do with linguistic features in text. Like: I hate Rihanna, but Dominique loves her. You need mental power to know what her is saying.

Why isn't coherence just a thing as it is

You need triggers to meet your expectations. For example you cannot make a shopping list with 'World peace' or 'the Golden gate bridge' on it. Also a shopping list is never read as a story.

What is the difference between lexical cohesion and grammatical cohesion?

Lexical is more about the meaning of a word, where grammatical cohesion is about grammar.

Grammer is more about conjunction (connecting words), reference, synonyms or Ellipses (leaving words out).

Lexical cohesion is more about words within the same semantic field.
