Do physical activity, air quality and social cohesion explain the positive effect of nature on health?
No.
Physical activity: People do not excercise more in a green than urban enviroment. although childeren are more active
Air quality: Effect of vegitation is negligible. Need a large capacity of trees to significantly filter the air and they can impede air flows.
Social cohesion - people living in green do feel less lonely than in barren neighbourhoods but do not have more contact with neighbours. Possible that other compounding factors are the cause such as money to spend to see relatives.
