What does cabin crew arm the slides mean?

It means that the slides (for evacuation) will be armed by the CA's

F70:
-Place the yellow door selector(s) in the ARMED position
-Check if the stripes on the girt bar have disappeared in the floor fittings

Embrear
-Place the arming levers on the FWD/AFT doors in the ARMED position
-Check if the escape slide indicator show ARMED and RED
- Check if the girt bar indicator show RED
-Perform a touch check

After the touch check the CA2 will report the Senior CA 'Slides Armed' via the interphone

What are the phases of high workload at DEPARTURE?

oStarts upon first airplane movement or engine start
oEnds when seatbelt sign is switched off or when contact by cockpit crew to senior CA has been established.
