In which two main pieces can the middle ages be divided?
The period of the Monks and Knights between 500 and 1000

Who were in the 1st estate?
Clergy: Pope, bischop, priest, monk & nuns) -
Who were in the 2nd estate?
Nobility: king, duke, count, baron, lord & knight. -
Who were in the 3rd estate?
Everybody else. -
Why the name dark ages?
Because invasion of barbaric tribes turned western Europe into chaos. -
What was the task of the 1st estate?
They needed to take care of religion, education, healthcare and hospitality. -
What are the consequentes that the roman emperor fell apart?

2. end to trade -> most cities disappear. The agrarian-city society came to and and the agrarain society came back.
3. church and farmers seek help from armed 'protectors' -> the best fighters become the new elite -> nobility

They needed to take care of defence, government, law and order. -
What makes that Europe after 500 an agrarian society ?
- The roman emperor ended -> government ended -> protection of the army ended -> trade came to an stad still -> cities were abandend -> so the agrarian culture started
