What causes a swelling of the penis (erection)?
Relaxation of the smooth muscles, which causes dilation of the vessels, which causes an increase in the amount of blood in the corpus cavernosa, which causes swelling. -
What is the function of the corpus spongiosum?
It forms the glans penis (and does not swell so much, because it would block the urethra). -
What is the function of the vas deferens?
It transports sperm cells from the inside to the outside, beginning in the scrotum. -
Where does spermatogenesis take place?
Within the seminiferous ducts. -
What is the structure of the seminiferous ducts?
The are convoluted (spiraalvormig), which turn into straight tubes more on the inside, and finally they form the rete testis (which is a network). -
What forms the early epididymis?
A network containing efferent ductules (which run from the rete testis).
