What is DNA/RNA vaccines?

These are vaccines that contains segments of naked nucleic acid, (DNA or mRNA) from the infection against.

How is a DNA/RNA vaccine work?

The DNA or mRNA in the vaccine is injected into the cytoplasm of your cells. Here the ribosomes will read the mRNA and translate the virus segment that is injected. The body recognizes the foreign part and will destroy this DNA/mRNA.  The body will also be creating antibodies and therefore creates an adaptive immune response and protection against a second infection.

What are the Advantages and disadvantages of DNA/RNA vaccine?

It can be made quick in a lab with things that are already available and therefore cost effective. It used our own body to create an adaptive immune response and thus effective. But it is a more unstable vaccine that needs the be kept cold, because proteins in the body can easily break down the mRNA molecules.
