Connecting all computers, databases, printers etc. through network stardard (TCP/IP)

How does a basic web server work?

The client is the user and requests a web page, browser sends the request to a web server somewhere else, the server retrieves the requested file from HTML files and returns the file to the web server, the server returns the file to the client. This is usually a static website.

How does a dynamic web server work?

The client sends a request to the web server, the requested page is generated by a CMS based on file in a database, and a template.

What is a server farm?

A place with lots of servers.

What is the difference between a public and a private cloud?

In a public cloud, lots of people can access it. It does not mean it doesn't have privacy, you often have to fill in your username and password. However, the server (for example google) has access to your files.
In a private cloud only you can access the files, even Google cant. However this comes at a cost.

What are the benefits and limitations of on-premise implementation?

Benefits:
- The company owns and has control over the systems
- The company can customize the implementation

Limitations:
- The company must arrange maintenance (with IT department, security)
- The company is a single user, no scale efficiency

What are the benefits and limitations of could-based implementation?

Benefits:
- The company is just a user: on demand, pay-as-you-go (avoid investments), location-independent

Limitations:
- You have to trust the security of the cloud provider
- Lack of control over own system
- Lack of control over solving issues (however, the cloud company has core interest to provide security)

What are the 6 concerns in cloud computing?

4. Security: e.g. a virus in the cloud environment?
