Interventions: functional dimension + organizational structure - Book - The 3D model in an overview

7 important questions on Interventions: functional dimension + organizational structure - Book - The 3D model in an overview

What is the main aim of an episodic intervention? And what are the two objects related to this?

The main aim is to contribute to meaningful survival through changing interaction premises and interactions (basic activities). In order to realize this, objects need to be changed.

The two objects related to this are the functional and social dimension.

What is the functional dimension about, elaborate briefly.

The functional dimension is regarded to the organizational design that allows societal contribution which is developed by 4 activities (Diagnosis, design, implementation, evaluation). These activities should be supported by theory which explains the relationship between parameter values and variable values.

What is the social dimension about, elaborate briefly.

The social dimension besides that the object should be well-designed, it should also be integrated in both interaction premises and interactions. The social dimension regards 3 subgoals: motivation, adaption and integration. These subgoals are supported by maintenance of change relationships.

What is the infrastructural dimension about, elaborate briefly.

The infrastructural dimension is about the temporary organization on top of the existing organization with its own intervention structure that execute the episodic intervention. This structure includes HR, technology and structure.

What are the goal dimensions in the 3-D model? And what is the relation with the other dimension?

The social and functional dimension.

The infrastructural dimension is there to realize these two goal dimensions.

It is stated that the 3-D model should be constructed in such a way it supports situational and cybernetic deliberation. What is meant by this?

Deliberation includes the continuous assessment and adjustment on the functional and social dimension, and on parts and aspects of the infrastructural dimension and actions that should be regulated operationally.

Structural deliberation refers to the continuous assessment and adjustment of salient features of the current situation.

Cybernetic deliberation refers to the continuous assessment and adjustment of the main topics of regulation: strategic regulation, design regulation and operational regulation.

Why do power and morality not have a spot in the 3-D model?

Power and morality do not have a spot in the 3-D model, because this should always be taken into account. Power and morality have an intrinsic relationship with the dimensions and are important. Therefore there is an integral link: they do not relate to just one spot, but to all aspects of the model.
