A research must be:
- Independent: Unbiased
- Objective: Don't let your personal preference influence the research
- Falsifiability of statements: Your theory must be able to be proven
- Reliable: Trustworthy, no random errors
- Informative: the information content of your statements must be optimal
- Generalizable: Widely applicable
- Validity: are you able to draw conclusions from your results

What are examples of quantitative data collection methods?
- Surveys (postal, telephone, online, face-to-face)
- secondary analysis (+:saving time, cheaper)
- experimental research: data collected from people in a controlled situation. beware of placebo( do double-blind testing: doctor and participants dont know which medicine is what) and Hawthorne effect. Randomization!
