  • What is a stipulative definition?

    A pragmatic description which clarifies the object without  being precise. It is more or 
    less a work definition
  • What are the six rules of making definitions?

    1. Make it simple and clear 
    2. Give a separate definition of an abstract concept in the definiens (nested definition)
    3. No definiendum nor a synonym  (circular argument)
    4. The definition should be exhaustive and exclusive
    5. Don’t define by saying what the definiendum is not (negative definition)
    6. Strive for a short definiens.
