What is a terminated treaty?

A treaty is one which no longer generates legal effect. After termination the parties are released from any obligation further to perform the treaty, termination of a treaty does nog affect any rights obligations or the legal situation of the parties created through the treaty prior to its termination.

What is suspension of a treaty?

The treaty is not definitively put to an end, rather the parties are released from any mutual obligations resulting form the treaty during the period of suspension.
