Describe T cell activation, by MHC class II
MHC class II presents the peptide antigen to a CD4+ T cell (T-helper cell). The antigen is presented to TCR and CD4 binds to the MHC class II molecule, this results in signal 1. However, a second signal is needed, which is the CD80 (APC) binding to CD28 (T-cell)
