When are two members of a clique structurally cohesive?
If they are both constrained by the structure of the group of which they are members. They are pressured by the other actors to think and behave in similar ways.
Actors are structurally equivalent if:
They are substitutable for each other in the sense of having precisely the same relations with other actors in the same network. For example two subordinates who work for the same supervisor and have the same set of peers are occupying the same position in the network and therefore structurally equivalent.
When are actors role equivalent?
If they occupy similar positions but in different networks.
