The bottle rack is a manifeatation because a) it embodies the dadaist anti-art ideas - even a mass produced object can be art.

b) it is a provocation to art as an insitution.

Nothing is truly original in that it goes back to ground zero ( originary). For example, Duchamp's readymades followed the introduction of objets trouves in Dadaist collage which in turn followed the use by cubists of small pieces of real world material stuck on to the canvas of their painting. A repetition can reveal something new, be a new manifesation of a different idea. For example Duchamp's urinal was not a repitition of his bottle rack because he signed it by the name of an imaginary artists and submitted it to a major New Yok exhibition.

- finding new artistic media e.g Duchamp's ready mades.

- finding new places to make or find art - eg Dychamp found his readymades in the praxis of life not in the Institution of Art.
