The UNGA adopted resolution 377 (1950), what did this mean?

If the UNSC fails to reach unanimity:
  • ●  The UNGA “shall consider the matter immediately”, leading to “emergency special sessions”,
    which can be called within 24 hours. They will be called for one of two separate reasons:
    1. Seven UNSC members are in favour of such a session.
    2. The majority of the members of the UNGA vote in favour.
  • ●  The UNGA may establish a peace operation.

How many special session have there been?

There have only ever been 10 emergency special sessions.
