What is a coding schedule and why do you need it?

Coding schedule tracks, records and categorizes the communication. You need to systematically code the data of your focus groups to find the recording unit of analysis, by creating a coding schedule/sheet.

What is a pilot study?

A trial run you conduct with a portion of your data. The pilot study checks the coding process and identifies potential problems.

What is intercoder reliability?

Determining the level of agreement between coders. A statistical means for establishing the degree of agreement. Reliabilities should be > 0.75.
Various statistical measures are available: % of agreement, cohen's kappa (K), Spearman's rho, Pearson's correlation (r) and Krippendorf's alpha.
