What is participant privacy and name 2 approaches.

Researchers often use pseudonyms for the participants. It's important for participants to speak freely and answer questions without fear of being outed to the public. Only in rare circumstances should participants be identifiable.

2. Anonymity

What is the difference between confidentiality and anonymity?

Confidentiality= researcher knows names and personal information of participants, but does not share the information. Can be helpful if you need to contact participants (e.g. follow-up interviews)

Anonymity= Not even the researcher knows participants' names or personal information. E.g. In anonymous surveys.

As long as you're honest with your participants about what kind of privacy you're using, you are being ethical.
